Community Protection Orders
Community Protection Orders are orders made when a person is sentenced for certain offences, mostly offences of a sexual nature. Orders are made pursuant to the Community Protection (Offender Reporting) Act, and can also be made at other times. If your name is placed on the Register, this means that you must comply with a large number of conditions for the duration of the order. These conditions will be served upon you, and it is extremely important that you read and understand your obligations. If you aren't sure what certain parts of the order mean, you should discuss them with a lawyer as soon as possible.
Breaching these conditions is a criminal offence and can result in significant sentences including terms of imprisonment. If you are charged with breaching one of these conditions, seek expert advice as soon as possible.
